Re: what you hear recording
The difference is nothing to do with Audacity - it's due to a difference between XP and Win 7. Audacity 1.3.13 is recommended for both XP and Win 7. This version is essential for Win 7. http://audacityteam.org/download/ Sometimes "what you hear recording" (AKA "Stereo Mix") is no...

Re: recording has ticking noise
hope this works Yes it does, as yes that's very weird. Try making a recording with the everything set up as normal, but without the cassette player connected. Do you still have clicking? If you are using a laptop computer, try recording while running on batteries (power supply not connected). Do yo...

Re: Output is missing!
That is the recommended setting and rules out the idea that I had of why it may have happened. So no, I have no idea of what went wrong the first time. Keep an eye open for this problem and write back if it reoccurs. If we are able to reproduce the problem at will then we should be able to prevent it.

Do you have Skype or other voip applications? These are notorious for changing your sound card settings without informing you.

Re: PLEASE HELP
it is confusing though because making one of the identical tracks only instrumental means taking out the vox, but taking out or minimizing the vox means the two tracks will no longer be identical. this process will put me in a loony farm. That is correct ;) When you come out of the other side of in...

Re: Audacity wont open files saved in Audacity
It's already been suggested that you upgrade to Audacity 1.3.12 and I also agree with that recommendation. when I open a file and hit the "go" button I presume that you mean the "Play" button? Error while opening sound device. Please check the output device settings and the proje...

Re: adding tap-in intros and click tracks
Hi Steve. Any idea how I could just add a count of 4 tap intro onto an existing MP3 backing track? Tried your explained method but the taps extend over the whole track and go slightly too fast. I only need a 4 tap intro as the existing track already has a finger click throughout. Trouble is the who...

Re: Glitching randomly through recordings
The "network" problem appears to be that your D: drive was (temporarily) unavailable. I would highly recommend that you do a thorough boot time virus scan of your entire system as there are some nasty rootkit viruses that can cause this problem. "AVAST" is available free for home...
