Re: Record from two mics into two separate files simultaneou
What's the model number of the Yamaha? It looks like Audacity 1.3.9 (which I have) does allow the "split stereo" function In Audacity 1.3.13 there are two "split" options: "Split Stereo Track" and "Split Stereo to Mono". The one that you want is "Split St...

Audacity 1.2 is very old and know to have problems on modern machines. Please try upgrading to Audacity 1.3.13

Re: Record from two mics into two separate files simultaneou
Steve, are you saying use two computers and have Audacity running on each one, with my voice mic going to one computer and my electroglottograph (that's the vibration-measuring machine, ain't that hilarious?) mic going to the other? I had considered that, so glad to hear someone else mention it. (M...

Re: Recording from Tape - Poor Quality
I have the project rate at 441000Hz Too many zeros. The default should be 44100 Hz and there should be no need to change it. The file that you posted has a sample rate of 96 kHz (and plays too fast), but your sound card may not be capable of working at 96 kHz. The recording level is way too high an...

Re: Noise removal chain: Nyquist error
I don't understand how you are adding Nyquist effects to chains as there are no options in "Edit Chains" for doing so.

Re: CD-R VS CD-R music
According to Wikipedia: Initially in the United States, there was a market separation between "music" CD-Rs and "data" CD-Rs, the former being several times more expensive than the latter due to industry copyright arrangements with the RIAA.[2] Physically, there is no difference ...

Re: CD-R VS CD-R music
I've always used ordinary CDRs.
Quality and compatibility with particular CD drives of CDRs can vary, but most branded CDRs should work well on most CD drives.
CD-RW (rewritable CDs) are not recommended for making audio CDs - they will often not play on ordinary CD players.

Re: Recording from Tape - Poor Quality
In what way is the sound very poor? Is it distorting? Is there a lot of hiss? Is it at the wrong speed? Something else?

It is not always necessary to go into the Windows Control Panel to change the recording settings - on many computers you can access the same dialogue through an icon near the Time/Date.
