It's normal to get a string of errors when Audacity is launched - that's just Audacity scanning your audio devices to see what's available and what isn't.
Are you able to reproduce the Nyquist Error? If so, please describe the steps and I'll try to reproduce the problem.

As far as I'm aware, "Permanently" means "Permanently".
There is a very slim chance that you may be able to recover the lost files using file recovery software such as recuva (free), but I wouldn't put money on it.
