Re: Keyboard Shortcuts

Selection Tool: F1
Time Shift: F5
Envelope Tool: F2

See here for the full list: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Keyb ... _Reference

By the way, I'd highly recommend upgrading to Audacity 1.3.13 http://audacityteam.org/download/
It's vastly superior to any of the old 1.2.x versions.

Re: Samson G-Track Static Noise

"Silk" isn't a driver, it's a codec. Asio4All does not work with Audacity as Audicity is shipped without ASIO support http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/ASIO_Audio_Interface The problems with the G-Track and why it works well with Skype is probably because it is being used at a low sample r...

Re: Version 1.2.6 Control Toolbar

It can probably be reset, but I don't remember how to do that on 1.2.6 as this is a very old version and I've not used it for a long time. I would highly recommend upgrading to Audacity 1.3.13 which is much more capable and up to date. It is the recommended version for all modern computers, but work...

Re: Art dual Pre question (hiss?) - new user

The EMI could be emitted from your newer computer and picked up by the microphone and/or its cable. There is some EMI being picked up by the microphone, but I don't think that's where those spikes in the spectrum are coming from. If you check the first recording, Stuart has recorded both left and r...

Do you know (or can you find out) which type of USB you have on the Win 7 machines? (USB 1, 2 or 3)

Re: Art dual Pre question (hiss?) - new user

I download audacity beta 1.3 and the sound seems much cleaner but I have to get fairly close to the microphone for a good level. (Is that the right word?) Yes that's a lot cleaner. There's still some hiss (as expected), but it doesn't have those spikes that the first recoding had. I'm not surprised...

Re: Noise and wide blue band instead of digitalizing LPs.

I'm sure I must have suggested this before, but if not; it sounds to me very much like some scheduled task is kicking in and briefly interrupting the USB port. If connection to the USB port is interrupted at all, even for a fraction of a second, while it is in use, then it can cause the data to loos...

Re: How to make funny/cartoon voice?

Try the "Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift" effect.
Set the Initial and final "Tempo" settings to zero and adjust the "Pitch" settings to get the cartoon voice.

Re: How to remove vocals?

With those tracks I think no. Vocal removal can work well, but only if certain conditions are met. If the vocal is panned dead centre on a stereo track, and the music is panned either side, then the Audacity "Vocal Remover" effect will work well. This is not the case in the samples that yo...

Re: Samson G-Track Static Noise

I have the same problem as all of you, but found some development. The sound worls awesome with Skype. So I dug a little into the matter and found out that Skype uses their on codec called SILK . There's an open source project that is opne source. but it's not stable yet OPUS . if someone could com...
