Re: Trimming almost-silence from the beginning and end of a
The problem with doing it in Audacity is not the trimming, but the fact that you want only trimming the ends even if there is long silence in the middle, and that you want to run it as a batch. Take away one or other of those constraints and it's easy. One of the highest rated feature requests is &q...
Re: effects
I'm not sure if I'm understanding your question the right way round, so I'll give an example: Let's say that you have: Track 1 = vocal Track 2 = guitar Track 3 = backing vocal and then let's say that: On track 1 you want to reduce the low bass and add some reverb, On track 2 you want to increase the...

Have a look here for how to enable the available devices: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... trol_Panel
Note that you may not have the same devices available under Win 7 as under XP.

Re: Stereo Reverb
I presume that you mean "does it sound natural?"
Give it a try and let me know. It's a very small download and you can delete it if you don't like it.
I'd recommend trying it with the default settings before you start twiddling. To revert back to the default settings, restart Audacity.

Re: Trimming almost-silence from the beginning and end of a
Hi! I want to do exactly what was originally requested by the person who started this thread. Namely, delete silence from start and end of file NO MATTER WHAT IS IN THE REST OF THE FILE. The reason - I don't know whats in my 1000 or so voiceover files and I don't want to risk Audacity corrupting st...

Re: Importing Ableton Live .aif clips
Can you export from Ableton Live as WAV files? If you can, then you will be able to Import the WAV files into Audacity.

Re: Anyone Know if "EZ Mix" is Compatible w/AUD....
Please do not write all in upper case. It is considered to be "shouting" and bad netiquette . EZ Mix is unlikely to be compatible with Audacity 1.2.x but the VST version of EZ Mix may have limited compatibility with Audacity 1.3.13. See here for how to install VST plug-ins: http://wiki.aud...

Re: Need a more technical explanation of the noise gate
So...I have a noise sample which serves as the prototype for the background noise in the wavfiles the noise gate is applied to. Yes, but we use the term "Noise profile" rather than "prototype". The noise floor in each of its frequency bands is calculated and used as a threshold ...
