Re: Recording/Playback
The obvious question is how do you know that the microphone works without the adaptor? Typical computer microphones require a low voltage to be supplied by the computer. Standard condenser type microphones require a much higher voltage that can be up to 48 v and will not work plugged directly into a...

You've posted in the "Programming and development section :? Have a look here and if you still have a problem, please say what sort of computer you are using and what operating system. http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Transferring_tapes_and_records_to_computer_or_CD Also, check which version o...

Re: Smoothing a fluttery .wav file
Why not try using "Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift" (available in Audacity 1.3.13) to stretch the spoken text rather than "Sound Stretch"?

Re: I have turned off Record function when recording second
The problem is when I try to overdub onto the first track. When I play the first track, the RECORD button greys out and I'm unable to record an overdub. Are you saying that the record button remains greyed out even after you stop playback? I'm recording from the External Mic. Which is connected to ...

Re: Removing noise causes more problems to audio
This is about the best that I can get it without spending a sill amount of time. TestAud-cleaned.flac I used this "pop-mute" effect (see below) set with: Threshold: -14 Mute level: -24 Arrack: 1 Release: 10 Then used Noise Removal (Audacity 1.3.13 vesrsion) with: Noise Reduction: 16 Sensit...

Re: I have turned off Record function when recording second
The record button is only available when playback is stopped, not while it is playing or paused, so press the stop button, then press Play. The problem with this is that I also re-record the original backing track when I am playing/recording my solo, That's a sound card setting. You are currently se...

Re: Trouble recording from mixer
On laptops the input is for mono microphone only, and that would be no good for you. You could try recording into that socket, but it will probably overload the input. Laptop PCs rarely have good recording inputs - I use a Behringer UCA 202 with my mixing desk and it is hugely better than the built ...

Re: Removing noise causes more problems to audio
The noise is a lot louder than the voice, so it is not going to be possible to improve it much. Try using the highpass filter set at 48 dB per octave and a frequency of 300 Hz Then use the lowpass filter set at 48 dB per octave and a frequency of 6000 Hz That's probably as good as it gets. Any addit...

Re: Recording/Playback
There's very little information on the TalkTech website about what these things actually are, so you'll need to help us out a bit.
The microphone is built into a face mask and the lead from the microphone plugs into a USB adaptor that is plugged into your computer - is that right?
