Re: setting volume on .mp4 files
Audacity 1.3.13 may be able to import these files if you install FFMpeg, but Audacity is an audio program and will only import the audio stream from the files (assuming that it can import them at all).

Re: Choice of microphone for a young person to record with.
For some reason my original post has been deleted So it has. Probably the title hit one of the spam filters (we get a huge amount of spam posted to the forum, and there's inevitably the occasional mistake when it comes to keeping the forum usable for genuine users). I've changed the title to make i...

Append Import
[Update: The current version of this plug-in is fully functional - see the included help screens for usage and limitations ] This feature gets requested from time to time, so I thought I'd look to see if it could be done with Nyquist. Here's the first (experimental) version as a proof of concept. T...

Re: Importing a song from iTunes
Which version of Audacity are you using?
(recommended is Audacity 1.3.13, and install FFMpeg to provide Audacity with additional file type support)

Re: Configuration challenges 10.04

If you're unfamiliar with PulseAudio it may be easiest to run Audacity directly with ALSA. To do this, launch Audacity from the command line (press Alt+F2, or open a Terminal window) ...

Re: Audacity and USB Deck Windows 7
firstly i used the deck with a Dell with XP on with no problem, Good, so the deck is probably OK i have also just tried using total recorder with similar results to Audacity. Good, so it does not appear to be an Audacity problem have put the usb into the back and it made it worse if anything. That'...

Re: Couple equip. questions...
Midi drums have their own problems that we have not touched on at all. Recording the audio output from an electronic kit is probably the easiest way to record drums - not the most natural sound, but most electronic drum kits have pretty good built in sound these days. To record everything onto separ...

Re: Recording with 24-hour clock timestamp
Audacity does not currently support time stamping. What you need is a surveillance recorder of some sort.

Re: Disguising voice
Changing the speed a little can help when used in addition to the best of your acting skills. Too much and your voice will turn 'toone.
