Re: Recording volume goes up and down...
Topic moved to the Audacity 1.3.x part of the forum. By default Windows will usually set up the microphone for conferencing/voip/Skype type applications and will enable echo cancellation, noise cancellation and other such "enhancements". While these may be useful for Sype, etc. they cause ...

In case you have trouble finding that, an alternative description of the same thing: Click on the "Name" of the track.kozikowski wrote:Little down arrow in the panel on the left of the track.

Re: Exporting blank files
Which exact version of Audacity are you using? (look in "Help > About Audacity") Do the Audacity Projects play correctly before you Export the files? If you Import one of the "blank" files into Audacity, does it show a waveform? Does it just show a flat line? Does it play? What f...

Re: Hip Hop "echo" sound
Another way to produce a doubling of a vocal (or other) track is to duplicate the track (select the track, then press Ctrl+D), then use the Time Shift tool to drag the duplicate track a short way to the right (or to the left for "pre-delay"). The nice thing about this method is that you ca...

Re: Sound device problem in 1.3.13
Tried 16 bit. Same reaction. Since 32 bit float works in 1.2.6 I don't see how it could be the problem. I'd agree with that, and 32-bit float format should work in (virtually) all cases as if Audacity receives data that is not in 32-bit float format, the software should automatically convert it (re...

Re: Nakamichi MB3-s and CD-Rs
The odd thing is that the albums recorded on CD-Rs sounded wonderful the day of the recording. Funnily enough I have had the same thing happen, but only a very few of times. It makes me wonder if there is some small amount of change that occurs in the first few hours after burning a CDR. CDRs do ag...

Re: Recording Volume Fade
If you are really using Audacity 1.2.x (you've posted in the Audacity 1.2.x section of the forum), don't. For Win 7 you need to use Audacity 1.3.13 http://audacityteam.org/download/ After 2-3 minutes of voice recording using a USB mic the volume fades to nothing. That's usually due to "enhancem...

Re: DACs and preamps
"DAC" is the abbreviation for "Digital to Analogue Converter". There is a DAC (and an Analogue to Digital Converter) built into your sound card. For the purpose of for recording tapes / records the M-Audio sound card will probably be sufficiently good for reasonable quality recor...

Re: How do I make audacity find/recognize ladspa plugins?
Do you know what the default installation path is for Audacity (openSUSE repository version) on Suse? If not, try installing it and see where it creates the audacity folder (I'm guessing that it is probably /usr/share/audacity/) By default, "configure" sets the installation folder to /usr/...

Re: Nakamichi MB3-s and CD-Rs
It could be the particular CDRs that you are using that are causing the problem. Some CD players are quite fussy when it comes to CDRs so you may need to try a different brand. Sometimes recording the CDR at a lower than maximum burn speed can improve the "quality" (playability) of CDRs.
