Re: Stopped Recording

Then Audacity stopped recording. I can record an existing CD into Audacity and it works but that's it. I'm not sure that I understand - "it's stopped recording" but you "can record an existing CD" :? So what exactly has "stopped"? Is there any error message? What's hap...

Re: How to add a track without "Duplicating" a music section

How do I add a track without always "Duplicating" a music section? For a mono track, the quickest way is Ctrl+Shift+N If you forget that key combination, look near the top of the "Tracks menu > Add New > ..." This is also where you will find the option for adding stereo tracks.

Re: Need help with Gverb -- Making a Siren Effect

You can create a Doppler effect using the "Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift" effect (included in Audacity 1.3.13). It's a little bit cumbersome to do as you will need to process the audio in sections. The "coming toward you" section needs the pitch to be shifted up a little and the...

There is also a new (Nyquist) Reverb plug-in here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 42&t=59168

Re: Can't Save a Selection

"Save" and "Export" are not the same. "Save" is for saving Audacity Projects. "Export" (and "Export Selection") are for making normal audio files that can be used outside of Audacity. (see here for a full account: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/A...

Re: Removing DC offset adds noise

What is the "bit format" for your track? The default is 32 bit float and with that setting there should be absolutely no added noise from using the Normalize effect if you have "DC offset correction" enabled and "Normalize maximum amplitude" disabled. This is irrespecti...

Re: Audacity Editing Problem when inserting

Here's a quick example of a splice using a very short overlap. The spliced section came from another part of the same recording, so the tone matched well, but there was a slight mismatch in volume which needed to be adjusted. I used the " Envelope Tool " to do that. Note that the cuts have...
