Re: no sound on record off diamond xs5.1's stereo mix

Win 7 / Vista? On XP it was usually a trivial matter to set this up, but often a lot of messing around on later Windows versions (and the settings vary from one machine to another  ) There's a load of suggestions on this page: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer_Toolbar_Issues#Using_the_Co...

Re: generating tones

Koz has covered about everything there, but just to fill in a bit of detail that you didn't ask... 1. what is the suffix or reference level of the dB for the gain control? The gain slider on the left side of the track (in the "Track Control Panel") is, as Koz said, up or down from whatever...

Re: What does a Ring Modulator do?

Aren't you happy? Always :D So it's like a bridge rectifier that's been made wrong .... hmm I wonder how it got invented.... While you speak, it appears the trees are speaking to us through variation in the rain noise. It's very disconcerting the first time you hear it. Bell-like/metallic sounds? P...

Re: Problems whilst exporting

Can changing the EDIT>preferences settings be of any help??? Possibly, but do you know what to change and what to change it to? Then, in the open Audacity project (Audacity 1.3.13), look near the bottom left corner for the "Project Rate" and ensure that it is set at 44100 Hz. If it isn't ...

What does a Ring Modulator do?

According to Wikipedia it does not seem to be what the Ring Modulator plug-in does. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ring_modulation Ring modulators frequency mix or heterodyne two waveforms, and output the sum and difference of the frequencies present in each waveform. This process of ring modulation p...

Re: Why don't my headphones work?

Which version of Audacity are you using? (look in "Help menu > About Audacity" for the full version number).
What settings do you have in "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices"

Where are the headphones plugged in?
USB headphones?

Re: editing

Difficult to say without hearing a sample. If the background noise can be lowered a bit then that should make the voices easier to hear.
