Re: 3.5mm to External Audio card Problem
Electret microphones require a supply voltage. For computer microphones this voltage is provided by the computer sound card. This is similar to "phantom power" that is required by studio condenser microphones, but with important differences. Computer microphones are typically powered by a ...

Re: Help please!
So your new laptop has Windows 7? You've posted in the Audacity 1.2.x part of the forum, but Win 7 Vista do not support Audacity 1.2 - you will need to upgrade to Audacity 1.3.13 http://audacityteam.org/download/ To play sounds that are playing on your computer you need to set your sound card to rec...

Re: Cassette tapes into iTunes via Audacity 1.3.3 Beta
1. My recordings from my cassette deck are fine except all are showing on the Audacity input/output meters as recording on the right channel at about 20% higher level than the left channel. This is obviously a problem with my cassette deck which I cannot adjust. To counter this inbalance is it poss...

Re: What does a Ring Modulator do?
Thanks Koz - that confirms what I thought. The second one was created with the "Ring Modulator" plug-in from the Audacity wiki http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Ring_modulator but it's not actually a Ring Modulator is it. The first one is my prototype that was based...

Re: Web Based Audio Program Build
Audacity is probably not a good starting point for your project as Audacity requires direct access to the local hard drive so that it can stream data as fast as possible from the audio input to disk, or from disk to the audio out. Myna by Aviary will probably be of interest to you: http://www.aviary...

Re: Newbie Page?
Importing the tracks should stack them up one atop the other. The limit used to be 16, I think the limit is much larger now. There is a limit to the number of radically different tracks you can import. Someone will correct me, but I don't think you can mix MP3, AIFF, WAV, M4A, and ACC in the same s...

Re: Stopped Recording
Look in "Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O" - what is set as the Recording device and what are the other options?
What is it that you are trying to record from - a USB turntable of some sort?

Re: Conventions for Nyquist Plug-ins
;control variables: As it is likely that Nyquist plug-ins will be available in Chains in the very near future, the variables used in the ;control widgets will be exposed to users. It is therefore recommended that the ;control variable names should be humanly readable. For example: Select Command_00...

Re: Multitrack playback bug
"Mixing" is an additive process for both mixing desks and for the playback of multi-track recordings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_mixing_%28recorded_music%29#Mixers Practical Example: Generate a tone into a new (empty) project (Generate menu > Tone) - any sort of tone will do, but ...

Re: How do I make audacity find/recognize ladspa plugins?
Then what's the scope of audacity's search for plug-ins when it starts up? I'm not sure, but it does appear to check the directory tree that it's in as well as its plug-in folder and /home/<user>/.audacity-files/plug-ins/ and if defined as an environmental variable it checks there as well. under op...
