Re: AAC export
Sorry, I thought I was on the French forum. This is now in the French forum. If you just want a different file extension, for example "music.aac" then type the full name including the file extension. You will receive a warning about non-standard file extensions but just click "Yes&qu...

Re: Stereo recording from Vinyl LP
You need to click on the track name.
On your image you would need to scroll up so that the top of the track is visible because the name is at the top of the box on the left end of the track.

Re: Windows7 with Audacity 1.2.6
Note that my Lame was only installed about 1 month ago ... it functions correctly so is it OK to continue to use with 1.3? I presume that you downloaded LAME from here: http://lame.buanzo.com.ar/ (that is, it's a version of LAME specifically made for Audacity) If so, then yes that will be fine. To ...

If it's coming and going then it's most likely a variation on this issue: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ: ... hancementscalcajun wrote: What happens for me is the bass drops out and comes back intermitently every few seconds.

Re: Possible bug - Exported wav file corrupt
There's something badly wrong with the "TauntPack_2578.wav" (source) file.
On Linux, Audacity handles it fine, but VLC just plays it as a short chirp and on the first time playing VLC froze for about a minute.

Re: loud noise when i start recording
How long does this "loud noise" last?
Does everything then become "normal"?
I'd highly recommend that you upgrade to Audacity 1.3.13 (Audacity 1.2.6 is really old now and has known problems on modern computers).

Re: LOW PASS FILTER NOT WORKING?
I'd agree with Koz that upgrading to 1.3.13 is very worthwhile. The "Low Pass Filter" effect does work in both Audacity 1.2.6 and 1.3.13, so if it's not working for you then you'll need to give a very detailed description of exactly what you are doing to help us "see" what you're...

Re: Raising volume of a certain instrument while lowing othe
The way that we do it in the studio is that one guitar is on one track and the other guitar is on another track. Raising or lowering the level of one track is then a trivial task. Unfortunately it is not the same when dealing with a recording that has been mixed down into a single mono/stereo track....

Re: Why does clipping occur?
I don't know if this is true... but somewhere I read that most "everyday soundcards" don't have an analog volume control (or attenuator). if that's true, reducing the software recording-volume just alters the digital signal-level (after the ADC) and does not prevent overdriving of the ADC...

Re: recording problem
I've no idea what version you have, but you should be using Audacity 1.3.13 which is available from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/askillz603 wrote: i have the audacity sample download.
