Re: Are there directions somewhere for the Easy Vocoder effe
I think what I'm able to decipher from your answer is that there are no instructions posted anywhere about how to set the settings to get various levels of the effect with the Easy Vocoder plug-in. As yet there are no official instructions for the Easy Vocoder effect (the author Edgar Franke has it...

The only connection between the USB device and the computer should be the USB cable. Some USB devices also have analogue outputs but these should not be connected to the computer.
Do you have a web cam or any other peripheral device connected to the computer?

Re: Stereo recording from Vinyl LP
Sorry, no magic lantern, but that test does give us some important information. Audacity is recording something , albeit only a bit of noise and DC-offset, so that tells us that it's not a problem with Audacity. What we need to try and determine now is why Audacity is not receiving a proper audio si...

Re: Removing DC offset adds noise
Anyone ever heard of anything like this? Or have any better explanations? This is a new one for me, though your suggestion of "perhaps a bug in the C-media driver that's not passing quite the correct numbers in to the DAC near the zero crossover" sounds like the most likely explanation. I...

Re: Killing hard clipping
I should learn Nyquist now, shouldn't I? Sure, but this is probably not a good first project. There are some parts of your suggested procedure that are extremely difficult to code and one step that may be impossible. A Fourier transform will be applied and the new harmonics will be determined by in...

You will find yourself living in the magnifier tools so you can see problems like this. Drag-Select and Control-E, for controlled zoom in, Control-F for full, Control-1, Control-2 and Control-3 for fine zoom control. You can also zoom in and out using the mouse wheel while holding down the Ctrl key...

Re: increase speed/tempo of mp3 audio books
As you are Ubuntu 10.10 you are probably using Audacity 1.3.12 (you can check the version number by looking in "Help > About Audacity") On that assumption I'll move this topic to the Audacity 1.3.x part of the forum. One option that is available in Audacity 1.3.x that is not available in S...

Re: Recording from soundboard
Try setting Audacity to use the "Pulse" options that corresponds to you computer microphone (for example "Pulse: front mic: 0") Click on the Recording meter in Audacity and you should see it move in sync with sounds that the microphone is picking up. While the recording meter is ...

Re: Playback settings
Not in Audacity, but when did you last defragment your hard drive? If that's not been done for a while then I'd give that a go.
