Beat Per Minute labels

How do I turn on the Bars and Beats grid? How do I Snap an audio clip to a particular beat? I saw a Sonar video where they had little grid bars they could grab and move to the start of each note that corrected any sloppy timing. My song is 140 bpm but I can only snap to whole second... Audacity doe...

Re: Tracks sound great in Audacity, distorted after export

When you play the project in Audacity, look at the (green) playback meter.
What is the maximum level that it indicates? Does the red "clip" indicator near the 0 dB mark show up?

Re: Problems recording a second track (multi-tracking)

I doubt that changing the page size will help. As soon as the system starts swapping data between ram and hard drive then you are already into major slowdown. You may be able to get some improvement if you optimise your computer so that there are an absolute minimum of processes running from boot up...

Re: Additional Editing capabilities

A macro feature that operates on the current selection would let me take a break while the computer turns the crank. Being able to define multiple macros would be ideal. Are you aware that you can apply a Chain to the current selection? If only part of the current project is selected, the "App...

Re: Problems recording a second track (multi-tracking)

Win XP SP3 is a lot heavier on RAM than the original XP (or even XP SP2). Whereas 512 MB of RAM was plenty for the original Win XP, it's barely enough for Win XP SP3. That's not to say that you shouldn't upgrade XP to SP3, but rather that when XP is upgraded to SP3 you really need more than 512 MB. ...

Re: how can I up-grade

If you do an "upgrade" to Natty (as opposed to a clean install) I think that Audacity should be updated automatically.

Re: New Audacity questions

Not really. You need to be careful with YouTube tutorials as they are not always accurate and may lead you into bad ways ;) There's a lot of (accurate) written documentation (see links at top of page or at the bottom of this post. Other than that I'd recommend that you play with it. There's no subst...

Re: only can record in one ear

We're going to need to get into precise details. What you are describing does not appear to be possible, so there must be something going on that we don't yet know about. Look in Audacity "Help menu > About Audacity" What is the full description of the Audacity version? (The bold writing a...

Re: Problems recording a second track (multi-tracking)

I've split this topic as it's a different fault from the original topic. The first part of the recording sounded like a sound-card problem (as described by Koz) in which the sound cards internal clock is drifting. However, the way that the sound breaks up at the end suggests that there's something e...

Re: New Audacity questions

is there a way to view the entire sound separately from the sound I am editing similar to the screenshot I posted in my initial post No, but with Audacity I've never needed to do that. If you select a region of the track, you can zoom into that region with Ctrl+E and back out to the full track with...
