I have an "audacity" folder That's your old Audacity 1.2.x folder. If you no longer use Audacity 1.2.x you can delete that folder You may want to see if Audacity 1.2.x is listed in "Add Remove Programs" and if it is, un-install it before you delete the folder. If it's not listed...

I'd agree with all the points that waxcylinder made, but also, do you really need to use a compressor? If so, why? (the reason why you need to use one, if in fact you do, has an influence on which compressor and what settings will be most appropriate).

2) Click the "Stop Button" to stop the recording
3) Hold down the "Shift" key and click the "Record Button".
