Use Audacity 1.3.13. http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows

Audacity does not work well across a network. If you're working on a text document, it does not matter if data gets briefly held up during transfer across the network, but for audio recording it is catastrophic. Yes, but with a few limitations. Audacity 1.2.x cannot open projects saved by Audacity 1.3.x, so I would recommend that you use the latest 1.3.x (currently 1.3.13) on both systems.
