Re: Latency when recording voice through USB mic
Turn off "Software Playthrough" (near the bottom of the Transport menu). Next you're going to say that you now can't hear the mic at all while you are recording. That's right. There is no hardware link between the USB microphone and your sound card, so the only way to hear the mic signal d...

For command line recording (also playing, editing and other audio manipulations from the command line), see Sox.

Re: Spontanous break up like sound rapidly stopping & starti
Windows XP does gradually slow down. Defragging the drive and cleaning out some of the accumulated debris can put off the day, but eventually the time to wipe and reinstall arrives. Try running Ccleaner before you defrag - it is a free utility that safely removes a lot of junk, which is a help in it...

Re: Overwrite Tracks
By "offset" Gale means that the leading silence in tracks 2 and 3 is not exported.
In his example, all three exported tracks will be about 4.5 seconds duration.
Is that what you want to happen, or do you want the tracks to include the leading silence?

Re: Recording Drums
everything seems to be going a bit off the charts master of the understatement ;) and then being fed out through RCA cables to a single line-in on my PC. Are you sure that you're feeding it into a "Line" input and not a "Mic" input? (a mic input will be far too sensitive and wil...

Re: Automatically stop recording after 30 seconds of silence
Audacity can "pause" when the sound level drops.

Re: Echo
OK. While testing this, stick with the "ordinary" headphones (this will avoid some possible complications and confusions). I asked previously whether the echo was evident only while you are recording, or if it is also there when you play back the recording. Looking back through this thread...

Re: Issues with Pasting?
You've posted in the Audacity 1.3 part of the forum. Are you really using Audacity 1.3? (check in the Help menu > About Audacity).
If you're not using Audacity 1.3.13, try upgrading to Audacity 1.3.13. You can get it here: http://audacityteam.org/download/
