Re: How can I record a second track?
"Overdub" should be on (selected). This tells Audacity to play other tracks while recording a new one. "Software Playthrough" should be off (not selected). With those two set, try changing the Playback device to: HDA ATI SB: STAC92xx Analog (hw:0,0) (recording device set to: C-me...

Try changing the Playback device to: HDA ATI SB: STAC92xx Analog (hw:0,0)
(recording device set to: C-media usb audio device(the microphone) )
If that does not work, try setting the Playback device to "front".

Re: playing ac3 5.1 in audcatity
If you want to make the whole mix quieter without altering the balance between the channels, you have to make each track quieter (move the gain slider leftwards) by the same amount. It's probably easier to make "all tracks quieter by the same amount" by selecting all tracks (shortcut: Ctr...

Re: Behringer UGC102 delay and latency
One way that you could solve this would be to use a program that supports "ASIO" for doing the recording (you can still use Audacity for editing if you wish). ASIO allows software playthrough with very low latency, but due to licensing restrictions Audacity cannot be shipped with ASIO supp...

Re: Behringer UGC102 delay and latency
I don't have a UCG102 and I can't find on the Internet if the device has hardware (zero latency) monitoring. Perhaps the "Karaoke" command would also be of interest to you: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/View_Menu#karaoke

Re: playing ac3 5.1 in audcatity
Audacity does not yet support multi-channel playback.
Mix the tracks down to a single stereo track and use the "Amplify" effect on the mix to bring the level to less than 0 dB.

Re: Expand Audacity
Apart from the final point (show spectrum), it would be much easier to use Sox than Audacity for your tasks. Sox is designed specifically to be run from the command line.
