Re: audacity alpha freezes

every time i open a .aud file Is that a typo or are you really opening .AUD files? .AUD files are intended for Audacity's internal use, not as user files. The Audacity Project files have the file extension .AU P Have you tried resetting the Audacity Preferences since this started happening?Instruct...

Chris's Dynamic Compressor.
(try setting the "Compress" level up to about 0.7 or 0.8 and all other settings at default.)

Re: recording skype phone calls

Audacity has never been very good at recording Skype due to the way that Skype works. I've just posted a reply to another user on the same subject which may be of interest to you: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 16&t=61014

Re: balanced Outputs

Because of the way that Skype works, Audacity is not very good at recording Skype (or other voip) calls. Specialist programs such as Pamela (not free) are often able to do a much better job. However, having said that, you may get some improvement by applying Chris's Dynamic Compressor effect to the ...

Re: Noise Gate Question

As you suggest in your title, this could be a good candidate for using a noise gate. There is a noise gate plug-in for Audacity here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Noise_Gate (note this plug-in requires Audacity 1.3.x (1.3.13 recommended) Instructions for installing plug-...

Re: resampling damages the sound

I don't have access to a x86_64 machine, but I'm not seeing that on i386. Could you give a step-by-step of what you are doing so that I can check that I'm reproducing your method correctly. Please also include: How much free disk space you have. Is this a track that you've recorded or imported? If i...

Re: Recording Using Multiple Inputs

As Koz has indicated, the short answer is "no, not with Audacity on Windows". Although some other software can record from multiple sound cards simultaneously, the results of doing so can often be disappointing. For most consumer level sound cards, each sound card will run independently us...

Re: Trouble changing tools.

Audacity could struggle with 100 tracks one on top of the other, If that is what you had. I'd be interested to know if you (Krangar18) had each copy of the "small wave file" on its own track (100 tracks with 1 small wave file in each) or if you had just a few tracks with lots of small wav...

Re: Cant record from stereo.

There is also something called a Noise Gate (maybe an optional plug-in for Audacity). A Noise Gate completely kills the sound (digital silence) when the level falls below a preset threshold (i.e. between tracks). There's a noise gate plug-in for Audacity here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyqu...
