Re: Noise Gate Question

Yes - I think it's 1 MB.
(that's about 6 seconds for a stereo WAV file, 12 seconds mono, 20 seconds mono FLAC format)

Re: Breaths in Voice Recording

Unfortunately there's no quick fix for this. In some cases, using the "High Pass Filter" effect (set to a low frequency, for example 100 Hz) can help. The proper solution is to fix it before it happens by using a "pop filter" to prevent the talent from blowing on the microphone. ...

Re: Exporting to MP3 - ID3 version used?

Audacity uses a generic metadata format. When used on MP3s I think it is basically v2, but note that ID3 v2 is not an official standard and there are many variations (depending on which software you use). Also, Audacity has to try and support metadata on Ogg, Flac, MP3, WMA and so on - and the metad...

Re: Doubling the size of a wave with a seamless SYNC

By the way, it is generally better to post in the part of the forum that is specific to your operating system (some of the shortcuts and other details vary depending on what platform you are on).

Re: Doubling the size of a wave with a seamless SYNC

The simple solution first: Select the middle bit, then from the Effect menu select "Repeat". For just one repeat, enter the number "1" then press "OK". Slightly more complex: If the waveform at the start and end of the repeated section do not match up, you will probably...

Re: Page Brask can be shifted... But a selected wave segment

There are lots of ways to make selections and navigate through a track (far more than I'm willing to type :D) My personal favourite method of zipping along a track and zooming in and out is by using the mouse wheel in conjunction with either the Ctrl key (zoom) or the shift key (scroll). The full de...

Re: Repeatable Stuck Shift from a label track

By the way, I don't think that the developers ever imagined that anyone would have over 500 labels in a track when they designed the feature. What they had in mind was using labels to mark track positions on an album recording (which would usually be about 20 labels). :?

Re: Repeatable Stuck Shift from a label track

I had either no region or a very short region selected at the time, and Audacity totally hung for several seconds, then emitted a continuous high-frequency sound. I think that what caused that particular bit of madness was that you had a very short selection and then tried to "loop play" ...

Re: recording drums with 8 channel mixer

it is possible to have a track per mic using the mixer and audacity? It's possible, but probably not something that we can offer a lot of help with. What you would need to use would be a multichannel sound card. I don't think that any of the regular forum contributors have such a thing, but there i...
