Re: Audacity Recovery Utility
Audacity is very stable and should not crash (with very few well known exceptions as listed in the "readme" notes (see section 3. Known Issues at Release one 1.3.x). To be a bit more precise, Audacity 1.3.13 is very stable. There are known problems on some previous versions. In particular...

Re: Click Track
I am using 13 version of audacity.... You've posted in the Audacity 1.2 part of the forum. I think the problem is that the playback just isn't starting quick enough, so that it's missing the first part of the file. Re: noisy
How are you recording the cassettes?
(The more detail the better - part numbers and model numbers are often useful, along with a detailed description of what it plugged in where.)

Re: Audacity Recovery Utility
Audacity 1.3.13 should recover projects automatically in the event of a crash.
If you're not using Audacity 1.3.13, you can get it here: http://audacityteam.org/download/

Look in the Transport menu.
Is "Overdub" enabled (selected)? (it needs to be).

Re: Recording For Best Quality CD
I also don't think you'll benefit anything noticeable from recording at 24 bits, except it will take more disk space. 16 bits will be enough for cd quality. That depends on whether or not you intend to process the audio in Audacity before burning to CD. If you are just doing a straight recording, t...
