Yes the feature works correctly, but, the waveform only needs to touch the 0 dB line to show up as a red warning line. Also, there's a phenomena that occurs with MP3 files. The most likely cause is the "Enhancements" that Windows provides (for the purposes of voip programs such as Skype, voice recognition programs, and similar). These Enhancements make a mess of music recordings. Finding exactly where to switch these Enhancements off can be quite complicated ...
