Re: Changing Pitch is bugged.
Steve ;) you also made a duplicate post Oops, so I did. The second one was supposed to be an update (edit) of the first one. It's probably more likely that I clicked the wrong button than a forum bug. I didn't know I was in the 1.2 board. No worries, I'll move it. I got the pitch issue all f...

Re: Microphone Audio Levels
a Radio Shack Unidirectional Dynamic Microphone Unless it specifically says that it is a stereo microphone, that will be a mono microphone. Setting Audacity to record "1 channel (mono)" will then correctly record it as a mono track, which will play back through both left and right speaker...

To put it another way - we're not sure exactly what you're trying to do so we can't tell you the best way to do it.

Re: Stereo recording from vinyl
Have you turned the volume up on the side of the Numark?
You may also have to enable "Software Playthrough" in Audacity (near the bottom of the Transport menu).

Re: Podcast Setup - Mixers
Probably the best way to do it would be for each of you to record your own (microphone) part of the conversation. Each of you would Export the recording as a FLAC file, then send all of the files to one person. (these will be big files, so you may need to use an on-line delivery service). The person...

Re: .AIF file import clipping
What is the bit-format of the AIFF files? For all integer formats the maximum/minimum sample value = +/- 1.0 and values beyond this range are not possible. Only float format (for example 32-bit float) can represent values beyond +/- 1.0 It is generally considered to be bad practice to produce files ...

Re: Stereo recording from vinyl
This should be straightforward then. How do you usually listen to music? Do you have an amp and speakers? Would you prefer to listen through headphones or speakers? Whichever, you need to connect the Line Out from the back of the Numark to whatever you want to play through. For example if you have a...

Re: audio sounds like coming from a metal can
MP3 is a lossy compression format. In order to reduce the file size, some of the audio data is discarded (permanently and irretrievably). The "Quality" that an MP3 is saved with depends on the MP3 encoding settings. In Audacity 1.2.6 I believe this was set to 128 kbps CBR by default, and t...
