This should really be on one of the Mac forum boards. If you say which version of Audacity are you using I'll move it.
I'm not a Mac user, but I believe Mac OS X has a Sounds and MIDI control panel of some sort where you can check that the USB mic is working.

Re: can I zoom into highlighted region without movement?
I don't remember if this works in Audacity 1.2 or not, but it works in Audacity 1.3.13
Hold down the Ctrl key and hover the pointer over the part that you want to zoom in on. Don't click.
Turn the mouse wheel and you can zoom in or out, centred on the pointer position.

Re: Can I use it to record Noisy Neighbors?
Also, a recording would not be "proof" as it is too easy to fake.
I presume that you've tried being nice to them and politely explaining the problem. They may not realise how bad the problem is.

Have you checked that the sample rate and number of channels is correct?
Could you post a short sample of a file that does work?

Re: timelines on each track
The Transcription Toolbar is only in Audacity 1.3 Customizing the keyboard shortcuts is likely to be very useful for you, but there are a lot of shortcuts, so you may find that you need to disable some other shortcut to get the keys that you need. Check the full Keyboard Shortcut Reference when you ...

Re: Trim Silence
As with many other plug-ins, this effect may create a "split" in the track at the end of the processed selection. To remove this split, press Ctrl+J (Join).

Re: How to remove very short bouts of silence successfully?
I don't use Win Media Player so I can't comment on that. Trimming silence from the start of an MP3 can never be exact. Sadly it is not absolute silence, then immediately after the silence the start of the music. There is also a bit of low level noise just before the music starts. The problem is that...

Re: Log? what is this errors?
There are a lot of possible configurations that Audacity needs to check through (remember that Audacity will run on almost any computer). The Errors are configurations that Audacity has tried that have failed, but then see: 18:04:29: Loading avutil from 'C:Program Files (x86)Ffmpeg For Audacityavuti...
