Re: music not recording on track
What exactly is this "Dazzle USB" device and why are you using it? Does it have a model number? Have you tried recording through the light blue socket on your normal sound card? If so, what happened? I'm trying to get a picture of what your set up is and what you are doing with it - rememb...

Re: Playing a track with the arrow keys
Unless you have a very old computer you should be using Audacity 1.3.13 (you can get it here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ )

Re: Echo/Distortion
You could try using the Noise Removal effect in Audacity, but that is likely to cause a similar kind of distortion as you were getting at the start.
What exactly are you wanting to record? I presume that you want to record your voice for some reason? Are you making a Podcast or something?

Re: Mono Recording from Sound Card - 50% clipping
So you're trying to record sounds that are playing on your computer? What sounds specifically? Internet radio? If you're not using the USB microphone at the present time, could you shut down your computer, remove the microphone and restart the computer, then run all of your tests again to check that...

Re: music not recording on track
Reinstalling Audacity will make no difference. The Audacity settings are not reset when you reinstall, they are carried over from the original installation to the new installation (this is so that updating Audacity does not wipe out the Preference settings for people that have set up preferences the...

Re: Special kind of frequency sweep (chirp)?
One small problem with that is that the Chirp effect in Audacity is written in C+ as an internal effect, whereas this code is written as a Nyquist script. Also, I'm not sure that there would be much demand for this additional feature - you're the first person on the forum to request it. However it s...

Is there a Realtek icon near the time/date in the lower right corner of the Desktop?

Re: Noise Removal Tests
I agree, and another notable feature is that it does not have any of the metallic/bubbly artefacts that are common with Noise Removal.
The effect is specifically designed to deal with "hiss" type noise and I think that it's showing great potential.

Re: Noise Removal Tests
I've been testing the new "Noise Coring" effect by Jérôme M. Berger http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Proposal_Noise_Removal Here's a sample of the effect. The first sound is the original unprocessed sound. It is followed by a "cleaned" copy using the Noise Removal effect in Auda...

Re: Audacity Beta 1.3.13 & BIAS Soundsoap 2.2.0
Audacity is attempting to load BIAS Soundsoap as a plug-in.
See here for some information about plug-in support in Audacity: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Plug-ins
You can select which type of plug-ins are enabled in Audacity in the "Effects" section of Preferences.
