Re: Special kind of frequency sweep (chirp)?
When the horn is pointing away, there is a very noticeable rolling off of the higher frequencies (use Plot Spectrum on different sections of a recording). You can simulate this effect by having two copies of the synthesized sound. Use the Equalizer to roll-off the higher frequencies of one track, th...

Re: Linear loudness vertical axis in frequency spectrum?
the other person wanting it was happy if the resulting vertical scale was just 0 dB to the Preferences-determined minimum. That was also my initial thought, but looking at a few different plots, the most useful range can vary enormously. Sounds that have strong harmonics will tend to have big peaks...

Documentation about the Equalization effect: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Equalization I could tell that there was no meaningful content below 200 Hz by removing everything above 200 Hz using Equalization like this: eq.jpg I could tell that the 400 to 500 Hz range was over emphasized by the so...

Like you, my view of Real Player is based on experience of old versions. The main reasons why I stopped using Real Player: I dislike the "hard sell". I don't want a program to set itself as the default application for all of my media files without asking. If I manually deselect a file asso...

Re: Linear loudness vertical axis in frequency spectrum?
Would you vote for a checkbox for "automatically scale dB" or similar, so you don't always have to have the upper limit of the scale limited to the peak? I think that if there was an option to switch off automatic scaling then there would need to be some way for the user to set the scale....

Re: Cant hear voice when recording thru headphones
How about if you set Audacity playback to the M-Audio and plug your headphones into the Fast Track headphone socket?PrimoPeralta wrote:the only way I can hear the instrumental I'm recording on is if I set the output device to speakers/headphones and by me plugging it into the headphone jack.

Have a look at "Real Alternative" from free-codecs.com
Real Player was banished from my computer many years ago and is never to return. On the odd occasion when I've needed to play an RA file I've used Real Alternative. I prefer to not use Real Media at all.
