Re: Cannot install Freeverb on Audacity Beta
I don't have Win 7 so I can't even check it out for you, though it's strange that Gale reported that it works on his machine but not on yours. One other thing that you could try is that there is a very nice (free) VST reverb by Anwida: http://www.anwida.com/product.asp?pid=7 Note that you will need ...

Re: Input volume using USB turntable
You posted in the Audacity 1.2.x part of the forum, but no problem I'll move it to the 1.3.x board.
Did you check out the second link that I posted (in particular this part: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... ud_or_soft )

Re: funny noises when recording to audacity
Topic moved.
I presume that you installed Audacity through the Ubuntu Software Centre?
Which version of Ubuntu do you have?
What are you trying to record?
What sound card (or other recording device) are you using?

Re: Cannot install Freeverb on Audacity Beta
A ".ZIP" file is an "archive" file. Basically a ZIP file is a container to hold other files (in this case the Freeverb effect). You don't actually "run" a zip file, you "extract" the contents of a zip file. The usual way to extract the contents of a zip file i...

You could also select one word at a time and use the Reverse effect, which will produce something like this:

Re: Cannot install Freeverb on Audacity Beta
Look in "Help > About Audacity"
It will say "Audacity 1.3.x (Unicode)". What is the "x" number?
Look in "Edit > Preferences > Effects" do you have all of the effect types enabled (selected)?

Re: Onset detection algorithm (Beat tracking)
The most simple form of beat detection is to just look for the peaks. With some music this will work, but it is likely to have a lot of false detections. Accuracy can be improved by band limiting the frequency range that is being analysed. For example, to detect kick drum beats you could filter the ...

I'm glad you're up and running
For future reference, please post in the Audacity 1.3.x part of the forum as it will help us to help you (you posted on the Audacity 1.2.x board).

Re: Input volume using USB turntable
For Windows 7 you should be using Audacity 1.3.13 and not Audacity 1.2.x
You can get Audacity 1.3.13 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/
See here for a detailed description of how to set up recording with a USB turntable: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... turntables

Re: audio position aka time codes
My editor sent me a capture of the bottom of his Audacity window that has "Audio Position" at the bottom showing hours/mins/secs. I don't have this same panel. He says it's the "Selection Toolbar" but I don't seem to have it when I click on my View menu (it only shows Control, E...
