As a test, run a full virus scan (overnight), then when it has finished, disconnect from the Internet (physically disconnect) and reboot your computer. We can't help you without a lot more information, such as what operating system you are using, which version of Audacity, what you are trying to record, what equipment you are using, in what way is it "not working", and any other relevant information.
