Open the Metadata Editor (File menu) before you Export and enter all of the information that is common to all tracks.

Re: varying the panning within a track?

Yes it is, but I would use Audacity 1.3.13 and not Audacity 1.2.x. Which version of Audacity do you have? (look in the Help menu > About Audacity.)

Re: Possible Virus Attack?

I suspect that some other program has associated itself with the .AU files and changed the icons.
Other than the icon change have you noticed any other changes?
By all means, run a full, in-depth virus scan of your computer.

Re: How to remove "tin can" sound?

There's not much you can do with that. There's a lot of noise "zzzz" and if you increase the treble to make the voice clearer then it will also make the "zzzz" louder. There is also a lot of "reverb" (the sound bouncing around the room) that cannot be removed (this need...

Re: Convert a Surround sample down to Stereo

Re: Convert a Surround sample down to Stereo

I don't think you can do that as a batch process in Audacity because when you import a multi-channel sound file it will create multiple mono tracks, so until you manually set each track to where you want it in the stereo field (for example with the track Pan sliders) you have a multi-track mono show...

Re: Fast playback in Audacity but file plays normal in iTune

It may be due to the file format. Try upgrading to Audacity 1.3.13 and install FFMpeg, then try importing the files. Audacity 1.3.13: http://audacityteam.org/download/ FFMpeg: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins#installffmpeg Lame (for MP3 export): http://man...

Re: .aud files import probs

There are two approaches that you can take (I prefer the first): 1) Open one of the projects, Select the part that you want to use in another project and from the File menu "Export Selection". Choose "WAV" as the export format. Close the project and repeat for any other projects ...
