Does the cassette keep playing when Audacity stops?

You posted in the Audacity 1.2 part of the forum. Ill move it to the Audacity 1.3 section.

What are you recording from?

Most of the menu items will be greyed out if Audacity is in "Pause" mode. Playback must be "Stopped" and not just "Paused".
Also check that you are not running out of disk space.

Audacity labels are saved in Audacity Projects but are not stored in exported audio files.
