Re: exporting data as text file at 24fps

Could you give more information about the frequency analysis that you need.
Are you needing to know the frequency of a pure (sine) tone, or is this complex sound with thousands of frequencies?

Re: Help creating simple plugin

Rather than just taking a "wild stab", if you add the Nyquist Plug-in header you can put it into your Audacity plug-ins folder and test it. (setq delay (/ 30 1000.0)) ; convert to seconds This line is intended to convert the value of "delay" from milliseconds to seconds by dividi...

Making a good fade-in or fade-out with the Envelope Tool makes is as easy as eating peanuts with chopsticks.

Re: Where to install the help files

The Ubuntu / Debian repositories do not include the manual.
Instructions for installing the manual are here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Unzipping_the_Manual

Re: Audacity Closes Immediately

This is a known problem with Audacity 1.2.x on Vista/Win 7. (Audacity 1.2.x is too old for these operating systems)
For Vista / Win 7 Audacity 1.3.13 should be used (available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ )

Re: Cross-Fade (revisited)

Of the 4 seconds selected in the second song, one second is removed from the start of the song, and the fade is applied to the remaining first three seconds - this is a deal-breaker: you certainly don't want anything removed from the start of the second song. I don't see that to be a deal breaker. ...

Re: Cross-Fade (revisited)

Thanks for the comments Gale. That should read "1.3.4" by the way. If this is included in Audacity I think that line can be omitted entirely. If it is only available as an optional plug-in, then I agree that it should say exactly which versions it works correctly on. I've only tested with ...

Re: How can I remove this noise?

I think that the best you will be able to do is to "duck" between the channels - that is, when the main speaker is talking, fade out the shotgun mic and when the person in the audience speaks, fade out the microport. You will end up with something like this, which though not ideal is compr...

Re: Cross-Fade (revisited)

I would extend the ability of the function by adding a "center" so that when xFading the fade-in and fade-out don't have to be the same length. I've thought about this, but I think that would be an exceptional case. The common case is that the fade-in and fade-out are the same duration. F...

Re: Getting Error Message when Exporting

Have been using 1.3 on Windows XP with success for some time now, but suddenly when trying to export a file I'm getting an error message that reads, ""audacity..has encountered a problem and needs to close" I tried uninstalling and re-installing it, but the same message is coming up....
