Re: Display

If this is something that you have recorded then somewhere along the line the signal has been distorted due to something overloading. Try moving further away from the microphone when you record.

Re: Seeing signal chain

In Audacity effects are applied to the audio data immediately when you apply them, so there is no "signal chain" as such.

Re: Pitch correction

Upgrade to Audacity 1.3.13 (you can get it here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ )
For high quality tweaking of the pitch, try the Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift... effect.
You will need to alter the Pitch settings, but keep the tempo settings at zero.

In that case could you check what the exact error message is.
(messages about sad children are quite common but I can't think of what the error message about a lot of old ladies would be.)

Re: Creating sounds in Audacity for MAC

A possibly quicker way:

Select part of a track then run the following code in the Nyquist Prompt:

Code: Select all

(bandpass2 (noise) 2000 1)
(this bypasses the need to generate the noise first by generating the white noise in Nyquist).

I'm not sure what you are seeing - are you able to post a screenshot?
