Re: strange problems on cassette but radio OK?!

They all seem fine, which is nice, but not good for diagnosis. Isn't that always the way :D Sometimes just rebooting can cure USB audio problems as it forces the drivers to reload and restarts the sound system afresh. I use a UCA 202 on Linux (previously Ubuntu, now Mint/Debian) and it has been ver...

Re: Tick in music

If the "tick" is short enough, the Repair Tool (as suggested by waxcylinder) is probably your best bet.
If the tick is too big for the Repair Tool then could you post a short sample so that we can look at other options.

Re: OUT OF THE ORDINARY Problem with recording [Atchmnt insi

It looks to me like you either have a sound card driver problem or a hardware fault.
Check that you have the most up to date drivers for your Satellite A200 (available from http://www.csd.toshiba.com )

Re: "Over A Radio" effect

The "Leveller" effect is pretty good at producing "Over A Radio" type distortion and as already suggested the "AM Radio" preset in Effect > Equalization will reduce the high and low frequencies to give a "thin" radio type sound.

Re: Tags

There are many different "standards" for metadata, depending on the file format and which program you are using to view the data (Microsoft, Apple, WinAmp and just about everyone else disagree about what the standards should be). Audacity attempts to take a compromise position by supportin...

Re: How does a newbie reduce bass?

I saw the "Preview" button, but I couldn't tell what it did! By default the Preview button will play the first 3 seconds of the selected audio with the effect applied to it. If the first three seconds of your selection is silence then you won't hear anything. It takes a few moments for Au...

Re: Cross-Fade (revisited)

Cross-fades that reduce the selected length by more than half can be made by moving the slider rightwards from the default zero setting. This removes audio content from the middle of the original selection (the amount removed depending on the slider setting) because there is no longer room for that...

Re: Cross-Fade (revisited)

The following (possibly too long for ;info text "as is") are the points I feel the beginner with cross fades will need to understand before they begin: Just a thought: the built-in effects have little or no information in the GUI about usage even for effects that may be obscure for the av...

Re: Cross-Fade (revisited)

I would find both occasionally useful. "Fade Only" is easy to understand and fail-safe, though I think we should judge its usefulness as an effect rather than as a way of explaining what cross-fades do. It would be more useful if the plug-in could create a "split" at the silent ...

Re: Recording from a Digital Piano

The reason I say the recording is dodgy, is when you compare mine to this video, which uses the same method of recording as I've now used, the sound is just remarkably crisper. It's the same sample that you hear straight off the keyboard, which is what I was expecting. Is there an explanation for t...
