Re: Cannot record with USB Cassette

It's starting to look like a hardware fault.
Which version of Windows are you using?

Re: High Recording Volume

It looks like either: The gain setting on the MBox is too high or You're using Vista or Win 7 and Windows is amplifying the input before it gets to Audacity. If it's the first, then all you need to do is turn down the gain on the MBox. If it's the latter, see this post: http://forum.audacityteam.org...

Re: Compressor: shorter attack/release times?

Update : I've spotted a minor bug in the plug-in. If the level of the final sample in the selection is high, then it may be amplified incorrectly and end up at a very high level. The bug is fixed in this version: sclimiter.ny

Re: Compressor: shorter attack/release times?

If you want to limit peaks and leave the audio at the reduced level (without ...

Re: Welcome to Audacity - GET RID OF MESSAGE

Audacity 1.3.x uses a configuration file called audacity.cfg
See here for the default location of this file: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audac ... tored.3F_2

To disable the Welcome screen you need to have the lines:

Code: Select all

[GUI]
ShowSplashScreen=0

Re: funny noises when recording to audacity

Install pulseaudio volume control (install the ubuntu's package named pavucontrol). Control the input volume using that. You beat me to it :) levels aren't so loud and its a behringer 1024 mixer. That's a bit vague. The maximum level should (probably) be less than 0 dB. Since changing my OS to Linu...

Re: Selection Tool Increments?

You have inadvertently selected "Snap To". Look near the bottom of the main Audacity window and untick "Snap To".

Re: Copying Contents of CD to Audacity

It means that you have downloaded the wrong thing. CDex is open source and free (fully functional). As with many open source projects the cost of hosting the website and software is met by advertising, which is fine if it is clear what is an advert, but some advertisers abuse the system and make the...
