Re: "Please check the input device setting and project sampl
To record directly from the computer you still need to have a "device". Without some sort of audio device there is no sound on the computer and so nothing to record. Does your computer have sound at all? If so, what sort of sound card? Did you follow the instructions here: http://wiki.auda...

Re: Antares Aututune
Audacity does not support real time processing or MIDI features in VST plug-ins. According to this page Audacity 1.3 has partial support for Antares AutoTune Evo. If you want to make full use of Antares Autotune you will need to use a different host program. If you're on Windows, Reaper is pretty in...

Re: Annoying behavior, which must have a simple fix.
In Audacity 1.3.x the positioning of the toolbars has been made more flexible than it was in 1.2.x so that they can be positioned more conveniently within the main window. Any of the toolbars can be positioned at either the top or bottom of the main window in any order so it should not be necessary ...

Re: Error while opening sound device
To record sounds that are playing on your computer, the recording (input) device needs to be set to "Stereo Mix". Unfortunately on most Windows 7 computers this option is either disabled by default or is completely missing. If it is only disabled, see here for how to enable it: http://wiki...

Re: Need tips on audio editing spoken podcast tracks
Let me apologize first off for the sound of the mics being gripped. It has become obvious why mic stands are so important and they are on my list of things to attain. Also on that list is foam covers to remove the breathing sounds. A pop filter and some sort of stand will immediately make a big imp...

This topic is 2 months old. I doubt if Cassandra is still following the topic. Due to the enormous amount of spam that gets posted to this forum, advertising is strongly discouraged. Sorry to give such a bleak response to your forum post. I'm sure you have a lot to offer to less experienced recordin...

Re: Edit Chain crash
I forgot to mention - the Normalize effect has been improved in 1.3.14 by adding an option to Normalize stereo channels together, or independently. The new feature is described in the on-line manual here: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Normalize

Re: Edit Chain crash
Thanks for the report. I can confirm that the crash also occurs with 1.3.13 on Windows XP. I've also tested with Audacity 1.3.14 (nightly) on Windows XP and on Debian Linux and the problem appears to be fixed. If you have OS X 10.4 or later you could try the nightly build for Mac which can be downlo...
