Re: isolate
I'm not convinced that the "isolate" feature always works correctly. Use it as a guide by all means, but I would recommend that you don't rely on it. Always listen to the track after removing noise to check that the sound quality is acceptable.

Re: Channel info boxes won't expand?
I ran into this problem myself when I first started using Audacity on projects with a lot of tracks. What I think has happened is that the tracks that "won't expand" have been manually adjusted to minimum height rather than "collapsed". I'll try to illustrate the issue: 1) Start ...

Re: extend the pause between words
Is it possible to automatically extend the pause between words in the recording. I have a lot of individual words (1000) in one record and I want to the pause will be longer between each other. I guess what you want is like the opposite of the Truncate Silence effect? Unfortunately Audacity does no...

Re: Importing WMA files for conversion to MP3
There are several different types of WMA files. FFMPeg supports WMA version 2. Just as Microsoft keeps changing the format of .DOC files so that people have to buy the new version of Office, they have also changed the format of WMA files several times. If FFMPeg does not support the type of WMA file...

Re: Subtract one track from another..
I tried it using two copies of just the original song and it cancelled out to absolute silence. So then when I add the second version with the additional audio, and get them absolutely perfectly lined up, why doesn't it cancel out the original song in the same way? What has gone wrong??!? The only ...

Re: Inputs / Outputs
The easiest way to install plug-ins on Linux is to create a folder in your home directory called "./audacity-files" and then create a sub-folder called "plug-ins". To install a nyquist plug-in, put the .ny file into the ~/.audacity-files/plug-ins/ folder that you have created, th...

Re: inquiry about audio sample, confused of recorder samples
I am getting values like values from -128 to + 127...the data holder is signed char...I am expecting signed waves with 0 in between... Signed 8 bit audio should have values between +127 and -128 (see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Signed_number_representations#Two.27s_complement ) For processin...

Re: signal level
The problem is called "DC offset" and is probably caused by either a faulty sound card or faulty sound card drivers. Try updating the drivers to the latest version available for your computer and Windows version. The recording can be adjusted so that it is centred on the zero line by using...

"It sounds similar to damaged loudspeaker and is not pleasant." Its not meant to be pleasant. No, I mean it really does sound like a damaged car radio speaker. Not at all musical. Steven Wilson would not like it. :D my brother is doing Computer science. Do you think this would be over his...
