Re: Compressor: shorter attack/release times?

What is the difference between the soft clipping limiter you posted here and the one you're working on? You can try for yourself. I've uploaded the new limiter here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=62012 Limiters are very useful with live recordings, but of limited usefulness...

Limiter

A "lookahead" dynamic range limiter to stop peaks above the set threshold value. Unlike the Soft Clipping Limiter, Broadcast Limiter and LADSPA limiter, this limiter does not use wave shaping distortion to limit the peaks. It is a very fast compressor and is able to limit the maximum peaks...

Re: Just want to work with one track

But is it really that complicated? I mean, isn't there a way to just work solely with one track? You say "All I want to do is record myself going over some notes. I want to be able to click the Record button, talk, click the stop button AND THEN PICK RIGHT BACK UP by clicking the Record button...

Re: Latency Issues

Hey guys, I am not sure if what I am going to say will help, but I was having this latency problems. Here is what I did to solve it: . Transport > Sound activated recording - check this option. After that, no more problems. My O.S is Lubuntu 11.10 and my laptop is an Acer 3690. I hope it can help. ...

Re: broken file

I'm guessing that (tell me when I'm wrong): You are using Windows Your computer hides the file extensions . The "short files" are "b0004" through to 25 (lower case "b"). The files are in a in a sub-folder of a folder in a folder that ends with "_data". You are...

Re: Audacity.... Autrocity??? Help please!!!

I'm not a Mac user so I can't give specifics, but I'd highly recommend that you stop using Audacity 1.2.x and upgrade to the 1.3.13 version http://audacityteam.org/download/

Re: Compressor: shorter attack/release times?

The Hard Limiter LADSPA effect chops off the top / bottom of the waveforms (ugly hard clipping) but the option "Residual level" puts the peaks back on after negatively amplifying them. If you set "Residual Level" to maximum then the output is the same as the unprocessed sound. At...

I've not commented before as I've never used VS2010 so have nothing to add, but I think this is a very worthwhile thread that will probably have more relevance in the future.

Re: Inputs / Outputs

I don't know if this is allowed, but is there any way of submitting part of the track to here to see if you can point me in the right direction? Certainly :) Select a few seconds of the track (click and drag along the track to highlight the required section). The selection should include a couple o...
