Re: Batch Import of Raw Data for file conversion.
I can probably help with the necessary SoX command, so I'll get back to you on that point. sox -s -b 16 -c 1 -r 44100 infile.raw outfile.wav where: infile.raw is the file name of the input file outfile.wav is the name of the output file -s means that the input file is signed integer -b 16 means tha...

Re: Batch Import of Raw Data for file conversion.
Audacity Chains do not currently support RAW import. SoX is probably the best tool for the job. I don't use Windows so I'm unsure of the necessary steps for a .BAT file but I believe there is a sample .BAT file included in the SoX download. I can probably help with the necessary SoX command, so I'll...

Re: Cross-Fade (revisited)
Umm... I *used* to know that sort of thing, back in college... It could actually be either, which is why I'm asking for opinions. ;) All of this is to say that I really, really like the "Smooth" fade-shape in your FadePlus plugin! The "Smooth" fade will be an option in the new p...

Re: Appropriate effects for .wav / need help
Notch filter (available in Audacity 1.3.13)
Run it twice, the first time with frequency set at 1000 Hz, the second time set at 150 Hz.
Higher Q values will remove less of the voice sound but will leave a longer "blip" at the start.

Re: Help for a not so smart user
There might be quicker ways to do it Yes there is a quicker way: First, switch off (deselect) "Show Metadata Editor prior to export step" in Preferences ("Edit > Preferences > Import/Export") You only need to do this once as Audacity will save this setting until you change it. T...

Re: Recording Quality
I have just downloaded Steve's limiter but my laptop doesn't recognise the file type so won't open it. Are there any instructions on how to install it anywhere? Nyquist plug-ins are plain text files (if you want to see exactly what is in the file you can open it in NotePad). Nyquist plug-ins are in...

Re: Making a remix from an acapella track?
Beat matching is a problem i have found. MixMeister's BPM Analyzer does an ok job of finding the bpm of a particular track, although acapellas have no audible beat. You might be able to find the bpm from the original track or record yourself clapping in time to the acapella then analyse its bpm. Th...

Re: Recording Quality
Your method and pictures look fine. What file format are you using for your iPod? As Trebor wrote, the most obvious difference between the appearance of the bought track and your home recorded track is the dynamic range compression. You may find this an interesting read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...

Re: Cross-Fade (revisited)
As the single fade options have been removed from this plug-in they will be made available as a separate plug-in. (If these effects replace the current cross-fade effects we still have the same number of effects so it is not adding to the length of the Effect menu). I think that an important feature...
