Re: Creating corrupt 16-bit Windows WAV files
I obtained drum beat tracks from http://www.instructables.com/id/Drum-Beats-in-Audacity, opened track 428 This file? http://www.freesound.org/people/TicTacShutUp/sounds/428/ I've tried to reproduce your steps but I don't see the problem that you describe. Could you attach the "noise" file...

Re: Hide and seek in audio files
Perhaps that is the answer and you're looking too hard for more?acoustical wrote:It's the same message as it has been with 44100Hz and it says "Keep moving, please! There are no hidden messages at this place!" (BTW: yes, it's German)
Changing the sample rate to about 88200 Hz sounds about right.

Re: No sound in Audacity 1.3
I assume it's supposed to say (Realtek High Definition), but it doesn't. That may just be that the default size of the text box is too small for the full name. Re: Hide and seek in audio files
The thing is, that I've downloaded the previous file from my first post and it was named as "110-220-440-880.wav" - it also made a different sound. Anyway, now it's definitely the correct file... :) The file attached to your first post is named secret_message.wav it is 978.0 KB (1001516 b...

Re: Recovering a Back-up Project?
If you upgrade to Audacity 1.3.13 (highly recommended) there is an option in the File menu "Check Dependencies".
This option will check if there are any "aliasfiles" external to the project and allow you to import them to make the project self contained.

Re: Clearing noises from recording
The "noise" in the recording is not "noise" in an audio sense - it is the sound of unwanted performers in your show. The only really effective fix is to do the recording again.heldan wrote:The level of Lady's voice is nearly the same as the one of the noise.

Re: Cross-Fade (revisited)
Two possible options for the Fade effect: 1) There are a number of common preset fade shapes (linear, log, bell curve, ...) The initial and final amplification levels can be set. All fade shapes may be customised by using a "Mid-Fade Boost" control (like the Cross-Fade plug-in). 2) There a...

Re: Hide and seek in audio files
I presume that there is some point to the instruction to use a hex editor, in which case we'll need a direct (bit perfect) copy of the original file.
