Re: First use, possibly lost recording as program froze

Which version of Audacity are you using? (Look in "Help > About Audacity" for the full and complete version)
Which version of Windows?

I hope you clicked the "No" button on that dialogue screen.

Re: Muffled audio from cooking show

There are two different problems. On the HD cam recording the sound quality is pretty good, but because the microphone is a long way from the person talking it is picking up a lot of the "room sound" which is the sound bouncing around the room. There is also a little "noise" from...

Re: Vocals Lagging on instrumental when rapping

You've posted in the Audacity 1.2 part of the forum. Audacity 1.2.x attempts to compensate for the time taken for sound to work it's way from the sound card to the hard drive, but the amount of compensation is not adjustable so on some systems the compensation will not be the right amount. In Audaci...

...remove a little excess bass in a recording? Would it be a low pass filter? E.Q. the recording? Any suggestions out there? EQ the recording (Effect menu > Equalization) Move the low frequency sliders to a lower level - low frequency sliders are on the left, high frequencies on the right. http://m...

Re: Frequency shift with very low sample rates

I am recording measurement data at 480 samples/second. I send the raw data to a file for later analysis; no problem. I reformat the data as the data chunk of a .wav file and send it to the speaker through a DirectSound secondary buffer, which I update continuously. Sorta works. Audacity is able to ...

Re: Audacity 1.3.13 Beta - Default Possible?

A screenshot would have been helpful, but in the absence I'm trying to visualise your description, which sounds quite specific and unique. Difficult to say with any certainty but I would suspect that it is caused by a bug in one of the "drivers" on your system, possibly the video card driv...

Re: Clicks and pops

I've just read through this thread again and see that the problem is on your Win 7 laptop. As you're using Win 7, the first thing that I would check would be the sound card drivers as that is probably the most common cause on Win 7 machines. (see link in my previous post).

Re: Line-in not an option

Morning chaps - wow, isn't this fun . . . . . . as you say it does help to RTFM!! :D I couldn't have said it better. so now have the figure out the best way to delineate each track. Is this best done after recording a 'side', or trying to record each track, stopping and starting each time? Some peo...

Re: Clicks and pops

Those are definitely clicks in the recording. You can see one of them in the middle of the selection here: firsttrack002.png If you find one of the clicks in the original recording (before converting to MP3) you will probably find that the disjuncture is even more abrupt. It's as if a small piece of...

Re: Converting Stereo to Joint Stereo

If you still have the original Audacity Project, or an uncompressed version of the recording (for example a WAV file), make the new MP3 file from that rather than converting your current MP3. It seems very odd that a site requires joint stereo and will not accept stereo. Are you sure that is the case?
