Re: Odd behaviours on joining and splitting stereo tracks

MIDI is not audio. Audacity is an audio recorder and editor, it does not record or edit MIDI.

Re: resetting Effect
When you say "withhearing" do you mean the "Software Playthrough" option in the Transport menu?
Audacity does not do real time effects. If you are getting real time effects they are coming from somewhere else, not Audacity.

Re: Installation
Did you perhaps download the Audacity 1.3.13 zip file (7.6 MB)?
The recommended file to download is (for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7) Audacity 1.3.13 installer (.exe file, 13.8 MB)
See where it says "Recommended Download" on this page: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows

Re: Tracks don't synchronise since I installed Sibelius
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "don't synchronise".
Are there any other changes to your set up other than installing Sibelius?

Which exact version of Audacity are you using? (look in "Help > About Audacity" for the 3 part version number)
Does a waveform show on the track before you press stop?

Re: Multi-channel playback
Thanks to both, but as the link points out, my input choices are left, right, and mono. I need at least five I think you are misinterpreting what it is saying. If you have 5 mono tracks in an Audacity Project you can export them as a 5 channel audio file. This illustration shows mixing down one ste...
