Re: is recording in stereo passe?

I generally prefer stereo, but the panning on that track is rather extreme. The rhythm guitar is right over one side and the lead is right over the other which sounds quite odd on headphones. Also the lead guitar is too hot and is distorting (clipping). There's also a buzz on that guitar which could...

Re: Record Via Mike

You should not use speakers and a microphone at the same time. When recording with a microphone, use headphones.
What are you trying to record? Your voice? What version of Windows? What version of Audacity?

Re: timer recording issue

Sounds like Audacity froze. Try updating "Audacity to audacity-win-unicode-1.3.14rc1.exe " available from here: http://code.google.com/p/audacity/downloads/detail?name=audacity-win-unicode-1.3.14rc1.exe&can=2&q= (this is due to be officially released in the next few days as Audacit...

Re: Problem with recording two channels

Follow the "signal chain" (the path that the audio signal takes) from the source of the sound, through all of the equipment through to Audacity and check the levels at each stage.

Re: Microphone Problems

Re: recording from bbc iplayer

What you are wanting to do is what the Audacity manual refers to as "Recording Sounds that are playing on your computer".

Re: is recording in stereo passe?

Here's a click track. If you listen to it on headphones you will distinctly hear the click pan from centre over to one side, back to centre, across to the other side and back to centre again, but if you look at the waveform the amplitude level is identical on both channels. The "panning" e...

Re: is recording in stereo passe?

before the mid '60's Motown records were mono recordings. If you listen to a mono recording on headphones it will sound like the band is playing in the middle of your head. This probably accounts for the "sitting right in the middle of the funk brothers" effect. When mixing down to stereo ...

Re: Problem with recording two channels

Check that your Soundblaster drivers are fully updated for your operating system. The most up to date drivers should be available from the Creative web site. Also check the Sound settings in the Windows Control Panel.

Re: Trying to record vinyl

Most Macs have high quality an reliable line level inputs. Probably the easiest way to get high quality recordings with your equipment would be to just use the phono pre-amp in the Traktor and use the "Direct Thru" mode to send the signal to the stereo line-in input of your Mac.
