Re: LP to mp3 problem

The turntable came with poor directions and a cd with a copy of Audacity, Probably an old or obsolete version of Audacity. For Win 7 the correct Audacity version is 1.3.13 which you can download from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ I don't know if this will help your current problem, but if...

Yes it looks like there is currently a problem there. The problem is unlikely to last more than a day or perhaps two so please try again later.

Re: create silence

When you use the "Repeat" effect (item 21 in the Effect menu), the Selection is repeated, not just the audio clip. If you wish to repeat the first 1 second of that track, select the first 1 second and use the Repeat effect.

Re: Odd behaviours on joining and splitting stereo tracks

To me that looks like a pretty good analysis of the discussion so far. I particularly like the "Big Crayon" description - made me chuckle :D I don't think that it's "graphically impossible to mark the tracks with an L and an R" but I don't think that we've really come up with a t...

Re: Input Volume Control

Audacity 1.2.5 is far too old for Lion. Upgrade to Audacity 1.3.13 http://audacityteam.org/download/

How are you doing that? What are you recording from (model numbers are good) and how is it all connected?

Re: Tracks don't synchronise since I installed Sibelius

I'm not sure why having Sibelius installed (and not running) should make any difference unless it has some processes running in the background. You could look in the Task manager to see what is running. When you record, there is always a short delay between the sound going into the sound card and th...

Re: is recording in stereo passe?

If I can't get rid of the buzz, I'll just have him record it over using a different amp. before I do that, what would recommend for removing the buzz? It'll be difficult to remove successfully. "Mains hum" that causes the buzz is usually quoted as 50 or 60 Hz (Europe / US), but the buzz h...

Re: Odd behaviours on joining and splitting stereo tracks

What if track 3 is a mono track but the resulting mix is a stereo track? Does that make a difference? When using Mix and Render the track(s) is/are being replaced not updated. As an example, say I've recorded a string ensemble: violin I violin I violin I violin I violin II violin II violin II viola...

Re: is recording in stereo passe?

I can make it less extreme, but I do like the effect. If you like the effect then go with it, but I would make the panning a lot less extreme. On modern commercial recordings panning is rarely more than about 40% one way or the other, so that is what people are accustomed to hearing. The "tric...
