Re: Erratic Input Level Slider Behavior

There are a couple of things that can make the recording level slider difficult to control. One is applications such as Skype that will take control of the recording level and change it without notice. It is generally best to ensure that Skype (or other voip programs) are completely shut down while ...

Re: Vertical Alignment Line?

Here's a tip that may be useful: Start with the "Selection Tool" (that's the "normal" cursor - F1 key to select it) Click once on one track to place the playback position (a vertical line will appear on the track). Use the Up/Down cursor keys and you will see that the vertical li...

Re: static & buzzing when I'm recording

The built in microphones in laptops are notorious for being crap quality. Even a cheap USB microphone (such as a $15 logitech desktop mic) is likely to give you much better quality recordings.

Re: recording problems...

If you have an original genuine Windows CD it may be worth doing a clean install. If you have had a virus on the computer you may have removed the virus, but removing the virus will not usually repair any damage that the virus has done to the system, so you could have some damaged system files. Re: Vertical Alignment Line?

If you create a label then the start and end of audio clips will have a slight "stickiness" to the label position and a vertical yellow line will appear when you drag an audio clip boundary so that it lines up exactly with a label position. Audio clips can be aligned in various ways using ...

Re: Recording Levels

Although Audacity 1.2.6 is (misleadingly) referred to as the "stable" version, it is very old and you will be much better to use the 1.3.13 version (available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ ) Ensure that your TT is connected before opening Audacity. Then open Audacity 1.3.13 and i...

Re: Unhandled exception when using effects (SOLVED)

Glad you're up and running. This issue is not in the FAQ because it does not come up very often. "Play and/or Record using RAM" is disabled by default, but if it has ever been enabled in a previous version of Audacity the setting will carry over to any new installation. That setting is rea...

Re: Start up errors in log

Thanks for the reply. I have done as suggested, found the preferences cfg file and deleted all lines except the recommended line (after keeping a backup copy), but the errors in the log are still the same. Thanks richard, I was just wanting to see which, if any of the messages were "left overs...

Re: Start up errors in log

Try resetting the Audacity Preferences. See here for instructions: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Preferences#reset
I don't expect this will be a complete solution, but please try it and let us know what happens and we can take it from there.
