Re: Audacity recording levels too low.

I don't use Win 7, but I suspect the problem may be a setting in the "Recording" section of the "Sounds" settings in the Windows Control Panel.
You may get some clues from this page: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... _Issues#cp

Not that I know of.

An alternative would be to record one instrument first, then record the other instrument as a new track.

Re: Does not record

Check that the recording volume for the USB TT is turned up in the Windows Control Panel (see here for how to get to the recording settings in the Windows Control Panel: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... es#vistacp )

Re: Noise Reduction

Anyway is it possible to improve tha voice sound? Maybe with a correct equalization and/or compression? For the second I really dont' know anything, but for the eq i suppose i have to draw a "smile" (lower in the centre frequencies): is it correct? Yes Equalization can also help, but not ...

Re: Exporting as MP3 with existing bitrate

I've downloaded MP3splt but it seems rather geeky and I don't even know if it'll do what I want An alternative (free) program that can do lossless MP3 editing is mp3DirectCut . Again it is limited to basic editing operations, but it may be enough for your needs. More complex editing requires that M...

Re: recording a bass track

I don't have direct experience of either of those devices, but just from a quick look on Google to see what they are it looks like they would do the job provided that your computer has a suitable operating system (the product page seems to suggest th...

Re: Exporting as MP3 with existing bitrate

Koz has covered about everything except for where the MP3 settings are located in Audacity 1.3.x. They are in the Export dialogue screen -> click on the "Options" button. More details: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/File_Export_Dialog

Re: What does 'DeleteFile failed; code 5' mean ?

A quick look on Google brought up: Q: "An error occurred while trying to replace the existing file: DeleteFile failed; code 5. Access denied." A: This means the installer tries to replace a file that is currently in use by another program. Close all programs that are active and click on 'r...

Re: Erratic Input Level Slider Behavior

Is the post-processing you suggested fairly quick? Yes. (E.G., lassooing a segment of the recording and increasing the general level across that segment.) There's several ways to do it, but yes that's one way and probably the quickest. Another way would be to use the Envelope tool which has the adv...
