Re: Instantly adding envelope points
A good question, but sadly no good answer. The Envelope Tool is very useful, but it is fiddly and as you said "a chore". There are no keyboard shortcuts for adding envelope points (Just F2 to select the Envelope Tool). I am currently working on a new plug-in that can produce custom fade sh...

Re: Mixer Toolbar - Input Source
You've posted in the Audacity 1.2.x part of the forum, but Audacity 1.2 is very old and no longer being developed. It can also be unpredictable on modern computers so it would be a good idea to upgrade to Audacity 1.3.14 (no need to uninstall Audacity 1.2 as you can have both versions installed. Aud...

Re: Automatically Removing Commercials?
Some Podcasts will have a brief silence either side of the commercial and it may be possible to mark those silences (along with any other silences) using the "Silence Finder". http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Anal ... nce_Finder...

Re: Fedora 16 ffmpeg + audacity-freeworld-1.3.13-0.4.beta
Unless Audacity has been patched to support ffmpeg-0.8.5-2, that version of FFMpeg is too new and not compatible with Audacity. If you can build Audacity from the source code there is a patch for Audacity that may work, though as far as I'm aware it has only been tested with FFMpeg up to 8.4 http://...

Re: Background recording noise
Are you sure that you are really recording directly from the USB sound card and not just picking up the sound from a built-in microphone?
The input device in the Device Toolbar needs to be set to your USB sound card.
What sort of USB sound card is it?
What sort of noise?

Re: editing help
when I cut a section and try to paste it in to another blank audio track, it stretches the pasted section way beyond the length it was supposed to be, This is a limitation of Audacity 1.2.x If you paste audio that has a different sample rate to the track, the audio will be stretched to match the tr...

... of the tool ... Which "tool" do you want to test and what sort of results are you hoping to achieve? Audacity 1.2.6 has been tested by users for over 3 years - what more are you hoping to discover? If your tests fail, how will you know that it is not a failure in your automated testin...

Re: Can you upgrade the roadmap?
You're not the only impatient one - we're all champing at the bit to see new stuff coming to Audacity ... 8-) You will however see a number of new Nyquist plug-ins made available over the coming months for download from the Nyquist Plug-ins pages on the wiki: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Downl...

Re: Adding a New Track "Before the Beginning"
Make sure that you are using the latest version of Audacity 1.3.x (currently 1.3.14) - there was a bug in some earlier versions where the method that I described would sometimes fail to move some of the audio clips. You can get 1.3.14 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/
