At what point does the error occur? Is it when you try to run the installation or when you try to run Audacity after installation? Please give detailed step by step instructions and quote any error messages exactly.

I'm not aware of any audio software that can distinguish the difference between a verse and a chorus.

On Vista (and Windows 7) you probably need to set the recording level in the Windows Control Panel. It is a common problem on these operating systems that the recording level in the Windows Control Panel needs to be set very low (around 0.1).
