Re: Sound Activated Recording

Audacity 1.3.7 is obsolete. The current version is 1.3.14 which you can get from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ You would probably be best to not use Sound Activated Recording when recording vinyl. If you get Sound Activated Recording working correctly you may find that recording occurs dur...

Re: EXTREME noise issues when converting from cassette

What equipment are you using? (including what operating system, which version of Audacity, make and model numbers of the hardware, how is it all connected....)
Is the noise constant throughout the recording?

Re: why! recording audio adds skips to my voice

The problem is that your computer is having trouble keeping up with the amount of data. There are a number of suggestions on this page that you can try: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Manag ... nd_Drivers

Re: Import audio crash

Is there a maximum of files you can import and "merge"? Or a maximum of total time? "Audacity Beta projects containing more than 2^31 samples will re-open empty with the entire data being seen as "orphaned files" (although the data "appears" to be in the correct l...

Re: random static while recording

Topic moved to the Audacity 1.3.x part of the forum. It sounds like you have the pre-amp level set a bit too high. When setting the level aim for a maximum peak level of about half the track height (minus 6 dB). That level should allow sufficient headroom to avoid distortion while still providing pl...

There's also a "Tape saturation simulator" plug-in: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 42&t=54228 (my comments regarding this plug-in are in that topic).

Re: Importing raw float waveforms

This may be superfluous as you have found a solution, but a couple of other options: Is there some way I can prepare the raw file so that audacity correctly identifies the settings? You could add a RIFF Header to the data: http://www.signalogic.com/index.pl?page=ms_waveform Alternatively you could u...

Re: Frustrated - I need help

if I'm in the wrong forum, I sincerely apologize. Ideally you should have posted on the "Audacity 1.2.x > Windows" part of the forum (as that is what you are using), but as Waxcylinder posted it would be best if you upgraded to Audacity 1.3.14 (from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/...

Re: Soft clipping and hard limiting

with the default wet and residue settings at 1 and 0 respectively, Audacity's hard limiter functions a brickwall limiter with a ratio of infinity. Yes, the audio will be (hard) clipped at the "dB Limit" level. Pulling the residue up to 1 should have no effect With the "Residual"...
