Re: Recording not centred on audio track

Yes that is DC off-set. It is often caused by a faulty sound card, though I've seen cases where the cause is the sound card drivers. Let's hope it's the drivers. If you have a branded computer, go to the computer manufacturers web site and get the most up to date drivers for your machine and operati...

Re: General Dev Question - Internal Name of Imported Files

I'm not a developer so I'm not sure, but I think that a good place to start looking is in:
/src/blockfile/SimpleBlockFile.cpp
and
/src/DirManager.cpp

Re: Sound Finder / Silence Finder improvements

Are you happy with one or other solution in the image above if we don't have the proposed "minimum duration of sound" for audio books? The "minimum duration of sound" (for audio books) isn't really a problem. I've restructured the code in my "development version" so th...

Re: Combining “Silence Finder” and “Regular Interval Labels"

What language is the silence finder utility programmed in? Nyquist (http://audacityteam.org/help/nyquist) Would an addition of the minimum interval be difficult to do? Time consuming? Would the original developer be OK with this change? It would not be particularly difficult to modify "Sound F...

Re: Need 10 sec of song only

Select the section that you want, then "File menu > Export Selection". Note that to export in MP3 format you need to also install Lame: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins#lame Note also that MP3 is a "lossy format", so there will be some loss of soun...

Re: Convert AIFF to MP3

Audacity 1.2.6 is known to have problems on many modern computers, but it is no longer being developed so these issues will not be fixed. Audacity 1.3.14 (beta) should run well on both your Mac and Windows computers. To export MP3 files (from any version of Audacity) you need to also install Lame (i...

Re: How Can I Rip / Record only Audio on a DVD -RW Video

Some of your questions are specific to your DVD Recorder so we probably can't help with those parts - you'll need to consult the DVD Recorder manual and/or any on-line help you can find from the manufacturer. A) Although it plays on my DVD Recorder (over the AV amp etc.) and on Laptop, it can not pl...

Re: New to Audacity

If you installed Audacity 1.3.14 using the recommended Audacity installer (from this page: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows ) then the manual will be available in the Help menu. There are ANSI and Unicode versions and the number go from 1.3.1 through to 1.3.14 The version that you should be using is 1.3.14 (Unicode).
