Re: 24 bits truncated to 16 bits...
On Windows, regardless of the hardware, on Windows, Audacity always records 16 bit data. If you are using 24 bit audio hardware, then you will only get a theoretical best of 96 dB SNR rather than a 144 dB SNR. This isn't as bad as it might sound. Even the best 24-bit converters fall short of full 24...

Re: free plug ins
it does not handle VSTi, the actual instruments, though someday I will experiment by trying this with loading them first into VST mini-hosts such as phrazor, wusik, or whatever. Has anyone tried this? Some of these hosts load like an effect and I'm thinking may "fool" Audacity. That may w...

Re: Can't record sound internally

I have found the stereo mix and everything easily yet im not sure if I have my inputs and outputs right on Audacity or what. Thank you, but ...

Re: How do I edit using [ and ] ?
It seems that I cannot delete a section highlighted using the [ and the ] markers. Since the passages are wider then the screen it is very difficult to delete suing a simple highlight. If it helps: At 12:90.2 I want to set a start marker and can see Selection Start indicate my start point. I hit Ed...

Re: Recording 2 inputs at the same time?
Can audacity somehow record BOTH inputs? if not, can ANY software do it? As Koz wrote, Audacity can only record from one device at a time. If you have a stereo audio device that is can handle a guitar on one channel and a mic on the other (many USB sound cards can do this) then you can record the G...

Re: 78rpm EQ Curve Generator
I've not forgotten this Irish, just been a bit busy. I've not found any bugs in it, but as it is rather a complex plug-in there's a lot to check. I'd like to get this plug-in up on the wiki where it will hopefully reach a larger audience so the more testing that can happen now the better. I've also ...

Re: Equal Loudness normalizing
I've removed the plug-in from this topic because I don't think that it is really up to the job. It was originally posted just to get some initial feedback on the first prototype. As there have been over a hundred downloads there is clearly a demand for a plug-in of this type, but from the small amou...

Re: Audacity puts"trial" in recording
Audacity does not put "trial" in the recording, so it must be some other program doing that. If you open the program that you believe to be Audacity and go to "Help menu > About Audacity", which version of Audacity does it say it is? (please give the full and complete name, or be...
